Mena Alexa Suvari was born in 1979. She is an American fashion designer, model and actress. After launching her acting career Mena Alexandra Suvari starred in guest roles for 1990s TV shows Boy Meets World and High Incident. Her first film appearance was on the drama Nowhere. After her performances of American Beauty (for which she won a BAFTA Award) and American Pie which brought her greater attention, she began the transition to major parts. She has appeared with American Pie's co-star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the lead character for the film Sugar & Spice (2001). In 2002, she was a part in Spun the drama by an independent company as well as the 2004 thriller, Trauma. Other appearances on HBO include the drama Six Feet Under. Suvari was also featured in the film version of Day of Dead, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, and the film version of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is the model for Lancome cosmetics as well as print ads for Lancome Paris Adaptive and has been featured in a variety of magazines and fashion blogs like Vogue. She has long been an activist and supporter of the African Medical and Research Foundation. Also, she is involved in issues of female empowerment and collaborates with various organizations to support breast cancer awareness and an End Violence Against Women Campaign.
